What to expect
GARRETT DESIGN works with clients from design concept through installation and maintenance. Below is a summary of the process from start to finish.
Free Consultation
A designer will visit you on site to learn about your goals. Our role is to listen to you, take notes, and understand how you want to improve your outdoor space. Pictures and notes will be taken as we discuss the scope of your project. Ask questions, pick our brain, discuss ideas—get to know us! This meeting is a chance for you to understand how we work and if we are a fit for your project.
DESIGN PROCESS
Based on the scope of the project, a design retainer will be emailed to you the following day. Payment of this fee will officially begin the design process. Please note, we are a design/build firm and do not work on design-only projects. This important step ensures a successful final project and includes:
Evaluation of property site, meeting with client. Client must provide a plat of survey before work can commence.
Provide concept sketch for client to approve direction of the design.
Refined drawing based on client feedback. Two edits/revisions.
A final installation contract. All designs are developed for sole use by Garrett Design Inc. during the installation of the final project and are not intended or authorized for use by other installers.
Approval of installation contract and a 50% deposit will place you on the schedule.
installation & quality control
Our professional crews install according to best industry practices. The foreman is on-site throughout this process to ensure quality control and react to any issues that may arise. Garrett Design is a licensed contractor in both Oak Park and River Forest and fully insured. Our crews are easy to work with and you will have text access to your designer throughout the process.
Maintenance
A garden is only as good as the care it is given. We offer bi-weekly, monthly and seasonal maintenance for your new landscape. Our maintenance program includes weeding, edging, spring and fall cleanups, and pruning. We also offer seasonal rotations for planters.
